If you just got a puppy or a newly rescued dog, potty training should be first on your to-do list.
Here are some tips to get you started..
1. BE CONSISTENT
No matter what potty training technique you use, you have to be consistent. Try one method for two weeks before introducing anything new.
2. LOOK FOR SIGNS
You also need to keep a constant watch on your puppy. For the first week of potty training, don’t let the puppy out of your sight. Any time you see signs that your puppy is about to go, take them outside.
3. GO TO SAME AREAS
When potty training, don’t give your puppy a large area to go. Take them to the same corner of the yard for all potty breaks to speed up the process.
4. KEEP IT CLEAN
If your puppy is always using the same area, you also need to clean it often. Your puppy won’t want to go to a site with lots of poop or a strong urine scent. Scoop the area after every potty break, and if necessary, spray it with water to clean urine.
5. TREATS
Don’t forget to reward your puppy when they do as commanded:)
